Our No. 592 is a classic black double monk, a type of loafer. The name relates to the decorative characteristic feature: two buckles fastened on to the side of the shoe. First developed in the early 20th century they have their roots in the European buckle shoes of the 17th and 18th century, but have since made their way into the vocabulary of modern cobblers.
